SHICDF's Own Metacritic Thread

So, you know how 'Metacritic' gathers all the ratings from reviews and gives the album an overall score out of 100? I thought we could start up our own version on the forum.

Every couple of days, the name of an album (hopefully that most people have listened to) will be posted. In your review, you must include an album score out of 100, your favorite 5 songs from the album and a short review. The ratings will then be averaged out to give the final score. We can record the scores into a chart or something, we'll see...

First album up for review is 'The Fame'.


THE FAME - 85/100
Top 5 tracks: Poker Face, LoveGame, Paparazzi, Beautiful Dirty Rich, Boys Boys Boys

This album hits you hard in the face with a stampede of infectious beats, catchy choruses and cheeky lyrics. It also has a little bit of variety among the tracks, which some people feel don't fit in with the rest of the record, but I think they are clever and really tie the album together. For example, the simple, playful 'Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)', to the amazing ballad 'Brown Eyes' and even the subtle-hip-hop sound of 'Paper Gangsta'. Altogether, I can say with confidence that this is one of the best debut albums I've heard.

Top 5 Favorite Tracks - Hold It Against Me, Criminal, He About to Lose Me, Till the World Ends, and I Wanna Go

Review:

This album screams fun pop music. There are a few tracks like 'Till the World Ends' that are great to play at parties, clubs, and even just to dance around in your house. 'He About to Lose Me' stands out because no autotune was used in the song and the lyrical meaning is just beautiful. I believe that 'Hold It Against Me' is a fun dance track that has an incredible breakdown but it's underrated. I don't think there are any song fillers in this album either. I feel the album's music videos are Britney's most artistic videos that she's done. There are some cons to this album, however. The HIGH use of autotune is just not needed, ESPECIALLY on the track 'Trip to Your Heart'. If the song wasn't autotuned, I feel it would be a more beautiful song. Some of the lyric content could be improved as well. I also feel that songs like 'Scary' and 'Everyday' should've been included in the album.

Britney's management need to allow her to use songs that she's written. If you haven't listened to 'Everyday', please do.

Overall, I think this is a fun pop album.

review: is a decent album that i can pop my pussy to and enjoy the good life & the fame. pretty good aside from flo rida, some instrumentals and lyrics *side eyes eh, eh* and the album is mostly listenable and enjoyable tho some songs aren't as exciting as others. very good debut.
