The next morning, James, admist the early morning fog, walked down to the local coffee shop where
he was to meet Stephanie.
He brushed past several people and made his way into the cafe. He paused and attempted
to find Stephanie in the crowd of people scattered around the shop.
"Welcome to Starbucks, what would you like?" asked a brunette woman in a white apron, as he trudged
over to the counter.
"Caramel latte, please," he replied casually, taking off his jacket and swinging it over his left arm.
"James, over here!" a voice called from behind him.
He turned around, looking past a couple of people and saw Stephanie seated at a small wooden table
with two cushioned seats.
"There you are," he said, relieved as he walked to the table, pulled out the second chair and sat down.
He continued, "so what's the big news you wanted to tell me about."
She suddenly turned solemn, and she hesitated before replying. "Angie asked me to move in with her."
"Wow, that's really sweet!"
He paused, looking at Stephanie's almost glum face.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you excited?"
"Here you go, sir," the brunette woman who served him said as he placed a green and blue patterned
mug onto the table. "Thanks," James muttered as she walked away.
Stephanie sighed, "well I haven't... Exactly been... Faithful to Angelina." She let some of her blonde hair
fall into her eyes as she looked down at the ground.
"I knew it," James muttered dissaprovingly. "Who?"
Stephanie looked puzzled.
"I mean, who are you cheating on her with?"
Stephanie pursed her lips, "Dean."
James took a sip of his latte. "Really?" he asked.
"What's wrong with him? He's sweet."
"What did you say to Angie?"
"Well of course I told her yes! She would've been heartbroken if I hadn't." Stephanie replied.
James frowned again, sighing.
"Look, she never has to find out. And I do actually love her, so why not?" she argued.
"Then why are you cheating on her?" James replied blatently.
"I just need to.. You know... Blow off some more steam."
"Steph, it's still wro-" he cut off mid-sentence and look anxiously across the room.
"James, what are you staring at?" she asked as she turned to face where James was.
They were now both staring at the strange man whom James had seen at the dock when he had
visited Andre.
Stephanie turned back around. "He looks kind of creepy," she grunted.
"I think we should go," James said as he gently grabbed Stephanie's arm and led her out.

James paced himself up the three flights of stairs that led to his apartment. As he opened the door,
he saw Alice and her brother Dean on the couch, laughing.
"Hey sweetie," Alice called, still giggling, as James made his way to the kitchen to pour himself a
glass of cold water.
"Hey," James smiled.
"What's up?" Dean asked, turning himself around to where James was.
"Drama, with Steph," James sighed.
"Is everything alright?" Alice said as she lifted herself from the couch and walked over to James
to give him a kiss.
James shrugged off the question. "Nothing you guys need to worry about."
There was a pause, then James changed the subject. "Dean, are you still up for lunch tomorrow?"
"Of course, 12:30pm?" he replied, propping himself up on the couch.
James nodded and placed his now empty glass in the sink.
He made his way to the bedroom and threw his coat onto the bed. He slumped down into an armchair
in the corner of the room and punched in the password on his Blackberry.
'1 Missed Call' flashed across the screen. The call was from Stephanie.
He pressed in Steph's number and waited for her to answer.
"Hello?" Stephanie answered.
"Hey," James replied, "what did you call before about?"
"Oh, just-". An earpiercing scream rang through the phone and the call disconnected.
"Steph?!" James yelled, panic-stricken, into the phone. "STEPH!?"
