Mons†er-hood
At first I wasn’t willing to admit I was falling,
Slowly and gradually becoming a mons†er
Washing over me like a wave on the sand
Hoping that it would pull me back into the ocean with it
To escape reality and set my insecurities free
That’s when I heard the song
I heard it before but this time it sunk in,
Penetrating through my blood
It became apart of me,
As I became a part of it
This was two years ago this summer
The summer I became a mons†er
Our mons†er leader,
The eternal mother
She’s brave, fearless
She protects us no matter what
She no longer lives for herself
She lives for us
She will stop at nothing to make us free
In some ways she and our mons†er hood,
Have created a race within the race of humanity
One where there is no judgment
No prejudice
Just us and boundless freedom
In some ways it is this that saved my life
Pulled me back into sanity
Away from terror and disappointment
Acting as my shield to haters,
Ever protecting me,
Teaching me not to care what others think,
To Dance in the Dark when things get bad,
To live a life that makes me So Happy I Could Die,
To live in The Fame of the moment
We respect everyone
Yet we receive nothing but hate back
How is that?
A race which loves
Gets hatred in return
It’s as if they don’t understand
Thinking as though we shall steal the spotlight from them
But that’s not what we want
We wish to be free
Find an outlet and set our insecurities free through it
Like a cord to a Telephone charger,
Being plugged into an electric outlet
When plugged to the wall sparks fly,
And in that instant, freedom is evident
Easily seen by a stray spark escaping from the outlet
Or the recharge of the battery
Picking itself up,
Getting ready to move on in life,
But still clinging to that instant of freedom
Hoping for another
I cannot tell you anymore about our society
It’s too private
We must keep it like that to protect our eternal mother and race
If you enjoyed this story,
Wonderful!!!
However, if you think I’m crazy
If you have a problem with our mons†er world
It doesn’t matter
Because I know I’m on the right track
I was Born This Way
