CHAPTER 2:
"Breakfast?" Alice asked as James trudged into the room, still in his pale blue pyjamas. He nodded
tiredly and seated himself on the bench next to Alice as she placed a slice of buttered toast onto his
plate.
Mid-meal, James' ringtone "Judas" sounded. He glanced at the caller ID on his Blackberry
and answered, It was Jake.
"Herr Jaorke," he slurred, half a piece of toast in his mouth. He swallowed the bite
and answered again, "Hey Jake."
"Hey," Jake replied, "whats up?"
"Nothing really, just eating breakfast," James stated, looking out the window, onto the foggy
street outside. He paused for a moment, taking another bite of toast then continued with, "last night,
at the club, when did you guys manage to leave?"
Jake hesitated and said, "Couple of hours later... Vince decided to get drunk... Like, really drunk.
He's got a bad hangover now."
James laughed and peered up at the clock, it was 9:32am.
"Sorry Jake, I have to go. I'm picking up Stephanie and we're going to go visit Andre for a bit."
"No worries, cya then," Jake replied and with that he hung up.
James walked briskly to the bedroom where he walked over to the white cupboard, where he
took out a pair of comfy grey shorts, white top and grey hoodie and changed into them.
Grabbing his phone, iPod and keys, he headed back towards the dining table where Alice still
sat.
He gave her a kiss on the cheek and swept out the door.
Down on the street, he revved up the car and drove Stephanie's haus, singing along to "Yoü And I".
James pulled up at the block of apartments where she lived, he stepped out and buzzed in at the
door. A few minutes later, Stephanie trotted down the stairs, dressed casually in short jeans, top
and a denim vest.
"Hey sis, ready to go?" James asked. She nodded and we walked out to the car.
*********************************
As James and Stephanie walked towards the bay they looked around at the crystal blue water,
hundreds of boats all lined in rows and they even caught sight of the sight of the Statue of Liberty in
the distance. "I love this place, don't you?" Stephanie said in amazement. James nodded in
agreement.
They continued along a moss-eaten dock until they reached Andre's haus, which had music
blaring from the stereo.
"Knock, knock," James called as they stepped onto the boat.
One of Andre's friends, dressed in a short and tight black dress, peeped around the corner.
"Andre, you have guests" she called.
Andre appeared around the corner, seemingly half-ready with one fake boob hanging out.
"Why hello guys!" he beamed, shoving the boob into his glittery dress, "come on in."
"This place about to blo-o-o-o-o-o-ow!" Stephanie sang along to the music, throwing her hair about.
James smirked at her.
"Drink?" Andre smiled, holding out a large bottle of whiskey.
"Yes!" James replied, Stephanie still dancing away.
James sat down on one of the couches as Andre turned the music off.
"Go insane, go insane. Throw some glit-" Stephanie paused and frowned as the stereo shut off.
She marched over eargerly towards the whiskey and poured a glass, then joined the others.
"So how's life?" Andre asked interestedly.
"Same old, same old," James replied casually.
"WOW! This whiskey is GOOD!" Stephanie exclaimed, a little to excitedly.
"Uh... Steph..." James shifted.
She giggled, "sorry."
James and Andre exchanged confused looks.
"So how's it going with Alice?" Andre continued.
"Good... Yeah, really good," James smiled.
"When are you gonna propose to her?" Stephanie blurted out.
"You're going to propose?!" Andre said.
James looked a little annoyed, "Steph! No-one else was supposed to know!" She looked down
and started tugging a loose thread on her jeans, "sorry, again."
"Tell me more, James," Andre pressured.
"Uhh... Fine," he gave up. "It's not even definate yet. But I really love her, and eventually I am
going to do it..."
"I'm so happy for you," Andre smiled.
Changing the subject, James asked the next question, "Is it going good with you and Angelica?"
"Yeah.. It's... going good," Stephanie replied. A look of sudden guilt appeared on her face.
"What's wrong?" James asked quizzically.
"Hello?" a voice called from out on the deck.
Stephanie, suprised looked up and walked outside, James and Andre following.
"Angelica!" she smiled and gave her a hug. "I wasn't expecting you for ages."
"There's something important I have to tell you," Angelica replied.
"Good or bad?" Stephanie questioned.
"Good, definately good," Angelica stated, a grin appearing on her face.
"Cya guys!" Stephanie called as she and Angelina jumped off onto the dock.
As they walked off, James noticed a strange man in a brown shirt, jeans, and torn, battered shoes,
watching them walk off suspiciouly.
"Wanna go bowling?" Andre asked, interupting James' thoughts.
"That was random... But okay," James laughed.
"I'll just get ready," Andre said, walking back inside.
James made his way to the side of the boat and stared out over the dock once more and caught
of the strange man, on the boat opposite, peering at him.
